Day 1 of testing for BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 in rainy Portimao

Mixed feelings for the two BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 riders in Portimão today. Morning weather was challenging: Izán Guevara crashed on his first lap and stayed in the pits for the rest of the session, while Alberto Ferrández focused on gaining experience and completed several laps, ending the day satisfied with his progress.

Today was a positive day. The conditions were difficult, with strong wind and a lot of water on track at the beginning. It improved slightly as the day went on, although we rode on rain tyres throughout. We managed to improve lap after lap and found a good setting for the wet conditions. Hopefully tomorrow the track will dry out a bit more. I’m very happy with the team and the bike — I feel good and I’m really pleased with the work we’ve done.

On this first day of testing, the priority was simply to confirm that the feeling with the bike and the set-up was in the right place after two months without riding, focusing only on training at home. Unfortunately I crashed out on my first lap and the conditions were too treacherous to risk it again. Tomorrow we expect better weather conditions, which should allow us to run more and start working seriously on the preparations for the season.
