The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 riders showed their pedigree in today's 22-lap Grand Prix of Hungary Moto2 Race. Izan Guevara expertly handled a long-lap penalty. Though it ended his chances of challenging for the podium, he still secured P6. Teammate Alberto Ferrández turned his strong form and hard work at the Balaton Park Circuit into a well-deserved P9.

Starting from pole for the second time this season, Guevara had to sit up in Turn 1 and fell back to third. He got into an early scrap with Manuel Gonzalez, Senna Agius, and Daniel Holgado. The number 28 was fighting back and climbed up to P4 on lap 4 but was then given a long-lap penalty for unsafe change of direction at the race start. He made light work of it and minimised the damage, dropping to P6. Unable to close the gap to the riders ahead, he held sixth all the way to the chequered flag.

Ferrández started from P17 and made up four positions on the opening lap. After some battling in the busy midpack, he settled into fourteenth position. Through crashes of various rivals and relentless determination, the rookie rider pushed on and arrived at P9 by lap 10. He then closed the gap to Alonso Lopez and kept the pressure on all the way to the finish line. He came just 0.156s short for P8 but fully enjoyed the battle and his Moto2 career-best race result.

Today's results keep Guevara second in the championship with 105 points, while Ferrández moves up to 20th place with 8.5 points. The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team are now in third with 113.5 points.

The team will be back in action in two weeks' time at the Automotodrom Brno for the Grand Prix of Czechia, held from 19-21 June.

Team Manager, BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2
"Izan was undoubtedly having a strong race. After losing a few positions in the opening laps, he showed he had the pace to work his way back towards the front group and fight for an even stronger result.

"The long-lap penalty changed the course of his race and made it impossible to remain in contention with the leading group. Even so, he stayed focused, brought home valuable points and leaves the weekend still second in the championship, which remains a very positive outcome.

"Alberto, meanwhile, confirmed the potential we have been seeing for some time. After a very strong race in Mugello, he put together an excellent weekend at Balaton, going directly into Q2 and then delivering an outstanding race performance. What impressed me most was that he was consistently closing the gap to the riders ahead and making up ground lap after lap entirely on his own merit.

"I'm very proud of both riders and of the whole team. Helping a young rider grow is never easy, but it is a fundamental part of what we do, and I believe we are doing it well. This weekend was another important step forward for everyone involved."

"Overall, I'm satisfied with the race because the pace was there all weekend. Even after the difficulties we experienced with the front end, we showed once again that we had the speed to fight at the front.

"The long-lap penalty obviously had a significant impact on my race. Up to that point, I felt competitive and was closing the gap to the riders ahead, but serving the penalty broke my rhythm and made it more difficult to stay in touch with the group I was chasing.

"Even so, I was able to regroup and continue pushing until the end. That gives me confidence because it confirms that our race pace was strong and that we had the potential to fight for an even better result.

"We leave Balaton with valuable points and plenty of positives. The championship is still long, and the important thing is that we continue to show the speed and consistency needed to remain in the fight throughout the season."

"I'm really happy with today's race. It was a very positive day for us. Starting from P17, I made a good start and strong opening laps, which allowed me to move forward quickly and join the fight around the top 10.

"During the race, I was battling with the group fighting for P11 and P12, and then I was able to move up to ninth position. I pushed hard to try and gain one more place, but even so, the result is something I'm very pleased with.

"We made some small adjustments after yesterday and they worked well in the race. I was able to improve in a few key areas and felt more comfortable throughout the weekend.

"The team and I have worked extremely hard over the last few days to improve many aspects of our performance, and I believe we are moving in the right direction. Now we need to keep working with the same approach and continue building on this progress."
