The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team was riding with a special livery on the Grand Prix of Italy Sunday to celebrate Pramac Racing's home race, which Izan Guevara completed with a hard-contested P7 despite experiencing difficulties on braking. Teammate Alberto Ferrández had to start the race from the pit lane due to a technical issue on the sighting lap and ultimately finished in P19.

Starting from P8, Guevara held his position off the line before gaining a place when Alex Escrig crashed on lap 2. After being passed by Senna Agius, Guevara followed him through on Collin Veijer with a move on lap 5. A long-lap penalty for Alonso Lopez briefly elevated the number 28 to sixth, but a subsequent battle with Celestino Vietti and Alonso Lopez dropped him to eighth. A late technical issue for Ivan Ortola on the penultimate lap had Guevara take the chequered flag in P7.

Ferrández started the race from the pit lane due to a technical issue on the sighting lap. As a result, the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 rookie was trailing the back of the pack by about 7s. He put his head down and – riding alone – managed to reduce the gap to the rider ahead of him to under 3s. Through various race incidents and crashes happening ahead of him, Ferrández ultimately finished in P19.

Today's results keep Guevara second in the championship with 95 points, while Ferrández stays in 25th place with 1.5 points. The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team are fourth with 96.5 points.

The team will be back in action at the Balaton Park circuit next weekend for the Grand Prix of Hungary, held from 5-7 June.

"From the very first laps it was clear that Izan was not as comfortable as he had been throughout the rest of the weekend and in recent races. Given the pace he had shown in the practice sessions, we immediately suspected that something was not working properly. When he came in, he reported an issue with the front brake, saying the lever felt hard and too far away, while the bike was not slowing down as it should. We will carry out all the necessary checks to understand exactly what happened.

"Despite the problem, he did a very mature job. He stayed calm, avoided mistakes, and still managed to bring home valuable points. It would have been easy to become frustrated in that situation, but instead he adapted and got the maximum result possible from a difficult race.

"I also want to congratulate Alberto. Before the race we had an electrical issue on his bike, and both he and his crew did an excellent job. The team quickly identified the problem, replaced the faulty component, and managed to get him back on track in time for the start.

"Even though he had to start from the pit lane and effectively joined the race on his own at the back of the field, he produced a very strong performance. His lap times were excellent, and he had the pace to fight for points today. For a young rider, recovering from that situation and catching the riders ahead is something he can be very proud of."

"I'm leaving this GP with mixed feelings. We were very fast on Friday and Saturday, and even this morning we felt we had the pace to fight much closer to the front. Qualifying did not go exactly as we wanted, but starting from eighth place was still a position from which we could aim for a strong race.

"I made a very good start and was already up to fourth by Turn 1, but then I suddenly experienced a problem with the front brake. The lever became extremely hard and I ran wide. From that moment on, I had to manage the issue for the entire race, which made things much more complicated than they should have been.

"The biggest challenge was mental rather than physical. I had to constantly adapt my riding and manage a situation that could easily have ended in a crash. Despite that, we brought the bike home in seventh place and collected important points for the championship.

"The positive takeaway is that our pace remains strong. We were among the fastest riders for much of the weekend and that gives me confidence for the races ahead. Of course, it's frustrating when things do not go as planned, but we keep moving forward and now focus on the next round."

"It was an unlucky day for us. We had a technical issue during the sighting lap, which forced me to return to the pit box before the warm-up lap and the race start. The mechanics and the whole team did an amazing job to solve the problem and get me back out on track.

"Starting from the pit lane meant the race was always going to be difficult, but I focused on my own pace and tried to make up ground step by step.

"I'm happy with what we achieved because our race pace was strong enough to fight for a top-10 result. That is a positive sign and shows the progress we are making.

"I'm also proud of the way I managed the race. I spent the entire race on my own, without anyone around me, but I stayed focused and kept pushing until the end. Today we were unlucky, but we are becoming more competitive day by day."
