Today, Izan Guevara had a lightning start to the Grand Prix of France Moto2 Race 2. This was key to the championship challenger taking his first victory of the 2026 season and his second with the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team. Teammate and rookie Alberto Ferrández showed a mature ride in the shortened contest, taking P15 following the disqualification of a rival post race.

The original race was declared wet and reduced to 14 laps but was red flagged on lap 3 while Guevara was in the lead and Ferrández had climbed up from P25 to P19. The teammates showed great professionalism in keeping their focus for the 9-lap restart, which was declared dry.

Starting from pole again (a Moto2 career first for Guevara), the number 28 made another perfect start and immediately broke away from the pack, holding an over 1s gap to the rider in second place by the end of the first lap. It became a matter of concentration to push to a dominant win, which he took with a 0.566s lead.

Ferrández started from P25 also in Race 2 and climbed up to P15 on the opening lap. The rookie briefly reached 13th in the busy midpack before ultimately settling in P16, which he held to the chequered flag, with a 14.469s gap to first. However, Daniel Holgado's post-race disqualification moved him up to P15 in the revised race classification.

Today's results put Guevara second in the championship with 70 points, while Ferrández now sits in 23rd place with 1.5 points. The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team are third with 71.5 points.

The team will now directly travel to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain for the Grand Prix of Catalunya, held next week from 15-17 May.

"This result was the perfect finish to what has been an almost perfect weekend. Honestly, these are the kinds of weekends you don't even dare dream about because everything came together so beautifully.

"First of all, congratulations to Izan, because he was the one who truly put the finishing touch on this incredible weekend. But congratulations also to the whole team, because everyone is working in an impeccable way. And our thanks go to Yamaha, our sponsors, and our team owner Paolo Campinoti as well for all the support, because we have really built a fantastic group of people working together in the right direction.

"Today's result is the product of all the work that started from the very first race of last season.

"It was also beautiful to see Alberto fighting in the opening laps with some of the top riders in the category. Step by step, race after race, he is beginning to show the level of talent he has. We are really happy that his efforts were rewarded today by being inside the points, even if it was just one point following Daniel Holgado's disqualification. But what matters most today is that we saw him there battling among the top guys, and that is very positive."

"I'm extremely happy with this amazing weekend here in Le Mans. Since Friday I felt competitive and comfortable on the bike, and session after session everything seemed to come together perfectly.

"I want to thank my team for the incredible work they are doing for me. I'm happy that I can repay all their effort with performances like this.

"Right now, I honestly feel stronger and more confident than ever before in my racing career. Of course, the season is still long and there is a lot of work ahead, but weekends like this give us the confidence that we can fight consistently at the front and be part of the championship battle this year."

"Today was a really good day for us. We had a strong race and also managed to avoid getting caught up in the incident that caused the red flag on lap three.

"We made two very good starts – first in the wet conditions and then again after the restart in the dry race. That was very important because it allowed me to overtake many riders early on and stay with the group.

"I also felt good with the bike throughout the race. Step by step, I'm gaining confidence with the category, the bike, and also with myself. We just need to continue working in this direction and keep improving little by little.

"In the end, I have secured another point, which makes me happy. It's a nice reward, also for my team who are always supporting me and working very hard."
