BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2's Izan Guevara and Alberto Ferrández displayed good pace on the perfectly sunny Grand Prix of Spain Sunday. They completed the 21-lap race in P7 and P21 respectively.

Starting from P12, Guevara made up three positions on the first lap and then engaged in battles with various rivals and climbed as high as fifth before ultimately settling in seventh place. He sparred with Alex Escrig for sixth in the final stages but didn't get the upper hand. He ultimately crossed the finish line in P7, 10.660s from first.

Ferrández started from pit lane following a post US GP penalty. Riding with clear track ahead of him, the rookie focused on race pace. With seven rivals unable to reach the finish line, the number-54 rider took the chequered flag in P21.

Today's results put Guevara third in the championship with 45 points, while Ferrández sits in 22nd place with 0.5 point. The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team are now third with 45.5 points.

The team will enjoy a week off before travelling to the Le Mans Bugatti Grand Prix race circuit for the Grand Prix of France, held from 8-10 May.

"Izan still had a good race because he managed to take home everything he could today, so he reached his target and still can focus on the championship. Honestly, after yesterday, we expected perhaps a little better; we knew we were close behind the leaders. But it's okay, it's a result we can be satisfied with, all things considered, especially since we've always struggled a lot on this circuit. We have shown that we've been much more efficient than last year in every situation on the track. We also have to keep in mind the penalty that forced us to start further back.

"Ferrandez rode his race and, obviously – starting from pit lane on the first lap – found himself alone, so the only thing he could do was what he did: gain experience and provide data to the engineers."

"The race wasn't all that bad, although we didn't achieve our goal, which was to try to get on the podium. But hey, we gave it our best shot. The start wasn't great. I did a little wheelie and I lost a few positions, but I managed to overtake quite a few riders on the first lap and cross the line in P9. Then I kept overtaking until I reached P5, but with 10 laps to go, I felt a huge drop in the front tyre. I was managing it as best I could because my arms were getting really tired trying to stop the bike.

"Again, we still gave it our all, and thankfully we managed to finish with the maximum points possible today. In the end, it was a P7 finish, salvaging a decent result. I am happy, and I know we have to keep adding points. We got through some tough races, and we're still close to the championship leaders. It's also a long road. We're just 14.5 points behind the leader in the world championship, and there are many races ahead, so let's keep adding points and pursuing our goals."

"Today we had to approach the race like it was a test day because, since we had to start from pit lane, we never had a chance to really be in the race. I tried to make mental notes of everything because I wanted to report back to my engineers, and I also tried to keep a good pace. Nothing more to say about Jerez other than 'I hope for more and better in Le Mans'."
