BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 enjoyed another positive day at the Mandalika International Circuit as Izan Guevara converted his strong pace into pole position for Sunday's Grand Prix of Indonesia. Carrying great momentum, the Spaniard continued to impress, earning his fifth pole of the season and his first back-to-back poles in Moto2. On the other side of the garage, rookie Alberto Ferrández continued his comeback weekend, focusing on regaining feeling with the bike and building race fitness as he prepares for his first Grand Prix start since suffering a collarbone injury in Austria.

Guevara started the Saturday by finishing FP2 in fifth position before turning his attention to qualifying. In Q2, his opening flying lap of 1'32.486s put him fourth and 0.327s off provisional pole. Returning to the track with just over six minutes remaining, the Spaniard responded after dropping to sixth place by producing a stunning 1'31.963s lap to go fastest by 0.137s. The effort was the first-ever 1'31s lap by a Moto2 rider at the Mandalika International Circuit. Although he was unable to improve on his final attempts, his benchmark remained unbeaten, securing pole position by 0.098s and placing him in the ideal position for tomorrow's race.

Still working his way back to full fitness following the right collarbone injury sustained in Austria, Ferrández used the Saturday to continue rebuilding confidence and adding mileage aboard his Moto2 bike. After finishing FP2 in 26th place, the rookie entered Q1 and steadily improved from an opening 1'36.967s to a best lap of 1'33.402s across the session. Lowering his personal benchmark several times, he ended Q1 in 12th place, 1.077s from the fastest rider. The result puts him 26th on the grid for the race.

Tomorrow's 22-lap Moto2 Grand Prix of Indonesia gets underway at 13:15 (GMT+8).

"Izan continues to surprise even us inside the box. We see every step of the process, every change we make, and every improvement, but even we did not expect him to be able to set a lap time like this. It shows just how much he is growing as a rider and how well the whole team is working. The atmosphere in the box is excellent, with everyone united and determined to do their best without making mistakes.

"Tomorrow, the race will be a different challenge. Pirelli has brought a new tyre, and some riders will use it while others may choose a different option, so it is difficult to know exactly what everyone's race pace will be. We will have to wait until the race to see who made the right choice and managed the situation best.

"As for Alberto, it is difficult to see him struggling with pain, as we knew this weekend would be challenging following his injury. At the same time, his commitment and determination are admirable. He is following the instructions of his technical team carefully, managing his workload, and doing everything he can to complete the programme.

"Tomorrow will be particularly tough for him, but our main goal this weekend was to help him learn the circuit so that when he returns next year, he will already feel at home here. We wish him the best of luck for the race and commend him on the effort he is making under difficult circumstances."

"I'm really proud of my team. This is our second consecutive pole position, and setting a new all-time lap record here in Indonesia makes it even more special. The work we are doing together is really good, and my feeling with the Boscoscuro is excellent.

"I think the key is understanding the bike and knowing how to work with the tyres. Here, I have a much better feeling, which allows me to ride more relaxed and stay focused. When you feel comfortable on the bike, you can push more naturally, and right now I feel fast and confident. It's a great moment for us, and now it's time to enjoy the race tomorrow.

"Starting from pole is important, but the race will be difficult because Manu [Gonzalez] and the other riders have a strong pace, very similar to mine. I expect a close battle at the front with Manu, [David] Alonso, and the other competitive riders. I'll try to manage the race well, stay focused, and fight for the best possible result right to the final lap."

"Today was a positive day, and we achieved our main objective, which was to keep learning the track and understanding the racing lines without taking unnecessary risks or aggravating my injury. My shoulder is hurting a little more than yesterday, so I need to manage my energy carefully and be sensible with how much I push.

"Tomorrow, we will approach the race as another opportunity to learn the circuit, improve where we can, and gain more experience for the future. The priority is to keep making progress without taking any unnecessary risks."
