BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2's Izan Guevara delivered when it mattered the most. He secured his second pole position and third front row start of the 2026 Moto2 season. Teammate Alberto Ferrández was unable to deliver the hot lap he had in mind, but he equalled the best qualifying result of his rookie season so far, taking P17.

Guevara played his cards right in the Q2 session. His first hot lap was cancelled for exceeding track limits, but his second lap put him temporarily in P2. It was a sign of things to come. Though he was pushed down to P4 by the time he started his second run, the Spaniard knew he had something left in the tank. His 1'40.280s, set on lap 6/7, put him at the top of the qualifying timesheets with a 0.024s gap over the rider in second place.

Ferrández' first flying lap was also cancelled for exceeding track limits, but his second attempt put him temporarily on the board in P15. Improving on his time but not in position on his next try, the rookie returned to the pits. Ferrández was intent on giving an extra push on his second run but was ultimately unable to better his time. His 1'41.232s, posted on lap 4/7, secured him 17th on the grid.

The 22-lap Moto2 Race will start at 12:15 (GMT+2) tomorrow.

Team Manager, BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2
"Already yesterday I could see that Izan had great potential on this circuit. We were still dealing with some brake issues, so the pace and lap times he was able to achieve despite those problems were very significant from my point of view.

"Today, once we managed to solve the issue, he showed exactly what he, the bike, and the whole package are capable of. He did an excellent job, and I want to congratulate both him and the team, who worked tirelessly to identify the problem and find a solution.

"I'm a little disappointed for Alberto because, honestly, he looked stronger yesterday. Today, he never felt completely comfortable with either set of tyres he used in qualifying. I don't think it was a tyre issue; it was probably more related to the changing conditions, which affected his confidence with the front end.

"The important thing is that he stayed calm and didn't take unnecessary risks. Sometimes you need to understand the problem, keep working, and come back stronger. I'm confident we can do exactly that tomorrow."

"Honestly, I didn't expect this result at all. After the problems we experienced yesterday, especially with the front brake, I'm really proud of myself and of the entire team. We arrived here with the same issues we had in Mugello, and it wasn't easy to find a solution.

"The team did a great job overnight, and we managed to make a big step forward. This morning the pace was already strong, even on used tyres, which gave us confidence heading into qualifying.

"We also had to deal with a few setbacks, including a separate issue in FP1, but everyone stayed focused and kept working. When things are difficult and you still manage to achieve a result like this, it feels even more rewarding.

"The pace is there, so tomorrow the objective is clear: fight at the front and finish inside the top three. A podium would already feel like a victory after the challenges we've faced but, of course, winning the race would be the perfect way to finish the weekend."

"Today was a bit difficult. This morning, we focused on a long run with one set of tyres, trying to gather as much information as possible and continue working on our race pace.

"In qualifying, however, I didn't have the feeling I was looking for. I struggled to find the same confidence with the bike and wasn't able to ride the way I wanted to.

"We need to understand those issues and keep working to improve the feeling because when everything comes together, I know we can be much more competitive.

"The important thing is to keep progressing step by step. Tomorrow is another day, and I'll do my best to make another comeback through the field."
