BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2's Izan Guevara and Alberto Ferrández showed good pace on the sunny Grand Prix of Australia Friday. Guevara secured top spot in today's closely contested Practice session – with 21 riders finishing within 1s of the fastest time – and maintained his 2026 100% direct-promotion to Q2 record. Despite still recovering from the shoulder injury sustained in Austria, Ferrández showed his adaptability at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. He wrapped up the Practice in P24 and will take part in tomorrow's Q1.

After finishing the morning session in P4, Guevara hit the ground running in the afternoon Practice, clocking a 1'30.444s on only his second lap to take provisional first place. The lap was fast enough to keep him in P1 until the Moto2 field started their time attacks in the final 10 minutes. Guevara responded in the final five minutes by setting a 1'32.016s on lap 12/14 to snatch back first place by 0.018s and get direct passage to Q2.

Rookie Ferrández worked diligently during the dry Friday sessions. He started his exploration of the – for him new – Phillip Island track, securing P16 in FP1. He continued the learning process in the afternoon trying to get into a good rhythm around the fast and flowing circuit. Ferrández ultimately finished the Practice session in 24th position with a best lap of 1'31.223s, set on lap 14/16. It placed him 1.207s from the top of the timesheets and put him on tomorrow's Q1 entry list.

Moto2 track action resumes on Saturday with FP2 taking place from 09:25-09:55 (GMT+11), before qualifying gets underway from 13:40-14:20.

"I'm really happy to finish Friday at the top of the timesheets again. The feeling with the bike is good, although Phillip Island is a difficult circuit for me because there are so many fast corners, and it's not easy to find the right rhythm. Overall, though, we started the weekend well.

"In the afternoon, I felt quite comfortable with the wind, but I had a lot of movement from the bike and that is something we need to focus on improving. We also saw more crashes, so conditions were challenging for everyone. For tomorrow, it looks like it could be wet, which will bring a different challenge. We have had some good experiences in wet conditions, so hopefully we can be competitive if it rains. But first, we need to see what the weather brings and keep working to improve our feeling with the bike."

"Today was a positive day, especially as I'm feeling better with my shoulder after Mandalika, which is really encouraging. I also felt good on the bike, and I'm happy with the progress we are making as I continue to learn the circuit. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to put in a fast lap on the new tyre in the afternoon, so we still have some work to do in that area. The strong wind also makes it difficult to ride here, but overall, I'm happy with how things are going.

"We'll see what the conditions bring tomorrow, especially with the possibility of rain, but we'll give our best whatever the weather."
