The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team returned to action at the Silverstone Circuit today after the three-week summer break as they kicked off the Grand Prix of Great Britain weekend. Izan Guevara showed he still intends on being a title contender, ending the Practice in P5. Rookie Alberto Ferrández tried to complete as many kilometres as possible at a – for him – new circuit. He ended the afternoon session in P27.

Guevara was keen to resume his championship charge again. He completed FP1 in P5. Working diligently during the afternoon session, he repeated the feat in the Practice, setting a 2'02.400s on lap 12/13 with a 0.585s margin to first place.

It was a challenging day for Ferrández, who was tasked to get to grips with the long and technical Silverstone circuit. He placed P16 in FP1 despite a small crash, but he struggled to get a clean lap in during the afternoon Practice due to a small technical issue followed by a yellow flag on his time attack. His 2'03.599s, set on lap 2/11, put him in P27, 1.784s off the fastest time.

Track action resumes on Saturday with FP2, held from 10:25-10:55 (GMT+1), followed by qualifying from 14:40-15:20.

"Overall, I'm happy with how we finished the day. We still have some chatter to manage and that's making a few corners quite difficult, especially where I need to carry the brake into the entry. Lap after lap I'm understanding better how to adapt my riding style to minimise the problem, and we're making progress.

"Finishing fifth and only half a second from the fastest rider is a positive way to start the weekend, especially because we set the lap time on our own. The team is also happy with our race pace, and I felt really comfortable throughout the longer runs. Physically I felt great, and I was able to push consistently without getting tired, which gives me confidence for the rest of the weekend.

"There's still room to improve, but I think we're in a good position to fight again tomorrow."

"It was a positive first day. Even though Silverstone was another completely new circuit for me, I felt comfortable quite quickly and had a good feeling from the first practice. It's a long and demanding track, but I was able to learn it fast, and I'm happy with the progress we made.

"Unfortunately, we had a technical issue with the bike during the afternoon session. Once I was back on track, I only had time for two flying laps, and on the first one I was affected by a yellow flag, so I couldn't put together a representative lap time. It wasn't the easiest day, but I'm confident for tomorrow, and I believe we can take another step forward."
