The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team hit the ground running on the Grand Prix of Germany Friday. Izan Guevara secured P1 in the Practice, earning him a full set of direct Q1 entries over the first half of the season. Ferrández used the available Friday track time to come to grips with the – for him – new Sachsenring track. He ended the afternoon session in P21.
Guevara started the day with P5 in FP1 and was already looking in contention for another strong weekend. He made further steps in the Practice, topping the live timing early on. His best effort, a 1'22.260s, set on lap 2/14, kept him in P1, with a 0.036s margin to second place.
Ferrández placed P13 in FP1 which made him fancy his chances of a direct Q2 entry. The rookie was keen to keep pushing despite a big save at the start of the afternoon Practice. His 1'23.258s, set on lap 2/14, put him in P21, 0.998s off the fastest time.
Track action resumes on Saturday with FP2 from 09:25-09:55 (GMT+2), followed by qualifying from 13:40-14:20.
"I'm really happy with the way we started the weekend. Even though the track temperature was higher in the afternoon, we managed to improve our lap time compared to the morning. I already knew there was more potential because in FP1 I set my best lap with a front tyre that already had more than twenty laps on it, so I was confident we could make another step.
"From the very first session I felt comfortable at Sachsenring. It's a circuit where I've always had a good feeling, and in recent years I've enjoyed riding here even more with the Moto2 bike. We started the weekend in a much better place than we did at the last round, both with the bike and mentally. I was able to rest well during the break, came here with a clear mind and good energy, and I think that showed on track.
"We had a very clear plan for Practice. The first flying lap was already strong, which allowed us to spend the rest of the session working on the set-up. Not everything we tried gave us the feeling we were looking for, but that's part of the process. Sometimes you find something better, sometimes you don't, but it's important to keep testing because that's how you improve.
"Now we have a good reference for tomorrow. It's difficult to predict how much faster everyone will go in qualifying because the conditions can change quite a lot here, but I know there's still some margin on my side. The goal is the same as always: fight for pole position and put ourselves in the best possible position for the race."

"It wasn't an easy day, but that's to be expected when you're learning another new circuit. We approached the sessions step by step, and I think we did a good job overall, especially in FP1, where we were able to put together some competitive laps.
"In the Practice, I made a couple of mistakes, and I never found the grip and feeling I was looking for, so it was difficult to improve. Even so, we finished very close to a direct place in Q2, which is a positive sign because I know we have more potential than we showed today.
"Tomorrow our goal is to fight our way into Q2 and then have a good qualifying session. I'm confident we can make another step forward."
