Guevara Secures Q2 Spot as Ferrández Heads to Q1 After Scorching Assen Friday
BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2's Izan Guevara secured P12 in a blistering hot Practice session at the TT Circuit Assen, earning a direct place in Q2. Alberto Ferrández suffered two crashes in the first sector, limiting his track time. He finished in P17.

The Grand Prix of the Netherlands Moto2 Practice session took place in extreme heat, the hottest 26th June on record in the Netherlands. The competition was fierce, with the first 22 riders setting lap times within one second of each other. Izan Guevara maintained his consistency with an tenth consecutive direct Q2 entry this season, ending the Practice in P12. Ferrández endured a difficult session disrupted by two crashes and will compete in Q1 after finishing in P17.

Guevara started the day with P10 in FP1 and adapted well to the demanding afternoon conditions. He briefly climbed as high as third before a red flag interruption. His best lap of 1'36.464s, set on lap 4/16, ultimately kept him in P12, 0.310s from first, securing a direct Q2 place.

Ferrández placed P15 in FP1 and showed early promise by moving into the top 10 in Practice. However, a first crash coming out of Turn 5 cost him valuable track time. A red flag gave him the chance to regroup, but he dropped outside the top 14. Despite improving his time to 1'36.678s on lap 12/14, a second crash between Turn 4 and 5 ended his session early, leaving him in P17, 0.524s off the fastest time.

Track action resumes on Saturday with FP2 from 09:25-09:55 (GMT+2), followed by qualifying from 13:40-14:20.

"It was a challenging first day. We knew before arriving that this circuit could be difficult for us because it has many fast, flowing corners which don't really suit the characteristics of our bike.

"Even so, we finished as the fastest Boscoscuro, although we struggled with several issues throughout the day. The extreme heat made the track very difficult, and I suffered quite a lot with chatter because the rear tyre was pushing the front.

"I gave my maximum on every lap, but we ended the day 0.3s from the top and in 12th position. The times are very close, so there is still plenty to fight for.

"Hopefully the temperatures will come down a little over the weekend. That should help us feel more comfortable and give us the opportunity to take another step forward."

"Today was a difficult day for us because the extreme heat made things even more challenging with our package. Even so, we kept fighting throughout the sessions, and I think we managed to build a solid race pace.

"I gave my maximum on every lap, and I'm happy with the effort we put in. The conditions were really demanding, especially during Practice, but we stayed focused and kept working.

"Another positive is that I finished very close to the fastest rider on the same bike. Being only a couple of tenths away shows that we are moving in the right direction.

"Now we have to keep working, improve the feeling with the bike, and try to make another step forward tomorrow."
