BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Locks in Two Direct Q2 Spots at Balaton
The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team had a mixed start to the Grand Prix of Hungary race weekend. Rookie Alberto Ferrández secured his second direct Q2 entry with an excellent P5 and a lap time very close to P1. For Izan Guevara, the Friday was hard work. He experienced a brake issue in FP1. Despite that, he showed his determination and rider quality by posting a Practice session lap time that was good enough for P11 and to advance directly to Q2.

The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team experienced ups and downs on the Friday of the Grand Prix of Hungary, but it all came to a good end: Alberto Ferrández and Izan Guevara secured P5 and P11 respectively in the Practice classifications and are both through to tomorrow's Q2.

Ferrández was fast to adjust to the, for him, new Balaton Park Circuit on the Friday. Gaining confidence in himself and starting to fully believe in his potential, he continued work in the afternoon and featured inside the all-important top 14 throughout the session, fighting for a direct place in Q2. His last flying lap, a 1'40.675s set on lap 18/18, had him finish in P5 in the Practice classification, 0.446s off the fastest time. It earned him his second direct entry into Q2 in his rookie season.

Guevara had an eventful opening day of the Hungarian GP. A braking problem resulted in a crash on his first lap in FP1. Unhurt, the Spaniard worked throughout the morning and the afternoon with his crew to solve the issue and improve his feeling with the front of his bike. He ended the Practice session in P11, with a 1'40.731s posted on lap 10/14, 0.502s from first.

Moto2 track action resumes on Saturday at 09:25-09:55 (GMT+2) for FP2, and the qualifying sessions will take place from 13:40-14:20.

"It was a really positive day. From the first session this morning, I felt comfortable with the bike and had a good feeling straight away. The focus was mainly on improving my lines and continuing to work on my riding.

"In the afternoon, we managed the session well. I completed my first time attack, then went back out on used tyres to work on race pace and gather references before making a final push.

"I was happy with the lap time we achieved, especially because it came with several laps already on the tyres. That shows our pace is solid and that we are working in the right direction.

"Tomorrow we will keep the same approach, stay focused, and try to get the maximum out of every session."

"It was a difficult day to manage. We continued to experience problems with the front brake, and this morning, shortly after going out on track, I had a small crash when a component holding the handlebar broke. Fortunately, the team fixed the issue very quickly, and I was able to get back on track.

"Throughout the day I still struggled with the feeling from the front brake. The bike was not stopping the way I wanted, and that made it difficult to ride with confidence and work in the usual way.

"Despite those issues, our pace was actually quite good. Whenever I was able to focus on riding, we were competitive and the speed was there.

"We are working hard to solve the problem and get back the feeling I need from that area of the bike. Hopefully we can find a solution soon and continue building on the positive aspects we showed today."
