The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team had a strong start to the Grand Prix of Catalunya race weekend. Championship Title contender Izan Guevara and rookie Alberto Ferrández finished in P5 and P13 respectively – the first time in 2026 that both riders are directly through to Q2.

Guevara finished FP1 in P4 but was hungry for more. He became the session leader early on in the Practice with a 1'41.827s set on lap 2/13 that kept him at the top until the final 7.5 minutes. The Spaniard didn't put in a time attack and ended the session in fifth place.

Ferrández knows the Montmeló track well. Having ended FP1 in P21, he used it as a stepping stone for the afternoon. He held a position inside the top 14 for the majority of the session but had to defend it in the final stages. He did so successfully, clocking a 1'42.208s on lap 14/15 that put him in P13 in the Practice classification, earning him his first direct entry into Q2 in his rookie season.

Track action resumes on Saturday at 09:25-09:55 (GMT+2) for FP2, and the qualifying sessions will take place from 13:40-14:20.

"I'm very happy with this first day here in Barcelona. I immediately had a fantastic feeling with both the bike and the track, very similar to the sensation I had in Le Mans, so of course I hope this weekend can continue in the same direction.

"I'm also really pleased with the work the team is doing because we are achieving exactly the kind of progress we are aiming for. The most important thing is that now we know the potential is there and that the direction we are following is the right one. That gives all of us even more motivation to keep pushing and working hard together.

"For tomorrow, the goal is clearly to fight for the front row – and if possible, even for pole position – and then focus on preparing as well as possible for Sunday's race."

"Today was a very, very positive day for us. I really enjoyed riding the bike, and I think both the team and I did a very good job throughout the sessions.

"I feel that we are improving and growing together every day. I had a good feeling already from the morning Free Practice, and in the afternoon I was fully focused on putting together a strong fast lap because I really wanted to go directly into Q2. We managed to achieve that, so naturally we are very happy.

"Tomorrow my focus will be 100% on securing the best possible position on the grid, but above all we want to continue working and improving – tomorrow, on Sunday, and every single time we go out on track."
