BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Riders Tame Technical COTA Track on Sunny Friday
The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team kicked off the Grand Prix of the United States. Izan Guevara, already experienced at the tricky and demanding Circuit of The Americas (COTA) track, secured P9 despite a small misunderstanding temporarily halting his session. Alberto Ferrández made up almost 2s between FP1 and the Practice. He ended the afternoon session in P23.

Today, BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2's Izan Guevara secured a place in tomorrow's Grand Prix of the United States Moto2 Q2 session. Rookie Alberto Ferrández used the full 40 minutes of afternoon track time to come to grips with the COTA track. The teammates finished in P9 and P23 respectively in the Practice timesheets.

Having finished FP1 in P10, Guevara started the Practice all guns blazing. However, with 27 minutes still on the clock, a small misunderstanding cost him some time. The number 28 was able to quickly resume his work. His 2'06.815s set on lap 7/8 ultimately earned him P9 in the timesheets. He will take part in tomorrow's Q2.

Ferrández needed time to get familiar with the technical COTA track on the Friday. He finished FP1 in P27. In the afternoon, the rookie improved on his morning time by 1.984s and moved up to 23rd place with a 2'07.705s, set on lap 10/14. The result means he will take part in tomorrow's Q1.

Track action resumes on Saturday at 09:25-09:55 (GMT-5) for FP2, and the qualifying sessions from 13:40-14:20.

"First day in Austin for me. It's a great circuit, but physically very demanding. But my feeling here is really nice. It was good day. I improved a lot in the Practice, but I couldn't make the most of the new tyres due to a communication error. We are still in the top 10 and go straight into Q2 – this is important. Tomorrow it will be very important to secure a good starting position for the Sunday's Race."

"I'm happy with how today went. I knew this track would be difficult, and it is indeed challenging but also very nice to ride. Since it's my first time here, I'm focusing on building confidence with the bike and learning the lines. The feeling at the end of the day is great; we did a long run this morning which gave us solid data and references, and we ended up quite close to the Q2 cut-off. We still have work to do, but we have everything we need to take a step forward tomorrow."
