BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2's Izan Guevara got on the pace early on during the Grand Prix of Thailand. He wrapped up the Practice in P3, earning him a place in tomorrow's Q2. Rookie Alberto Ferrández made the most of the first sessions at the Chang track to get familiar with the – for him – new Buriram circuit. He ended his Moto2 World Championship debut day in P28 and will take part in tomorrow's Q1.

Having completed FP1 in P2, Guevara was determined to keep pushing to the fullest to get some hot laps in during the 40-minute Practice. He topped the live timing for the majority of the session with his best lap of 1'34.686s, set on lap 3/14, until a last-minute series of time attacks from the rest of the rider field pushed him down to P3 in the timesheets.

Ferrández showed his determination to impress on his Moto2 debut. The rookie had the extra challenge of having to get acquainted with the Buriram circuit. Despite sudden rain in the final minutes of the Practice, the young Spaniard booked progress and shaved off more than a tenth of a second from his morning time. He wrapped up the Practice in 28th place with a 1'36.453s, set on lap 15/16.

Tomorrow, the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team will be back in action at 09:25-09:55 (GMT+7) for FP2, and the qualifying sessions from 13:40-14:20.

"We've started the season in the ideal way. My feeling with the bike is very good and, after such a consistent preseason, beginning the championship with the third fastest time on the first day gives us even more motivation. It feels like clockwork. I'm able to set consistent lap times, one after another, just like in my best moments in Moto3. This afternoon, I went out with new tyres to try a couple of different things, but I wasn't able to complete the test as I had planned. Even so, we're very happy with how the day started. I arrived in Thailand with the flu and I'm still not at my best physically, but fortunately it hasn't affected my performance. Tomorrow it will be very important to have a strong qualifying, and we are fully focused on that."

"After a few days of nerves and excitement, I've finally made my debut in the Moto2 World Championship. I know that my main goal this season is to learn and getting to know the bike, the tracks, and the team. The feeling is positive, even if I'm not completely satisfied with today's final position. Still, we collected important data to keep improving. We know we need to work especially on the first and the third sector. I feel very comfortable with the team, and I'm confident that together we can turn our current weak points into strengths."
