Following an unusual weekend at Phillip Island where the weather ultimately denied the Moto2 riders the opportunity to race, the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team now travel to Malaysia for the penultimate stop of the 2026 season's flyaway races.

The Grand Prix of Malaysia takes place at the renowned Sepang International Circuit, located just outside Kuala Lumpur. Opened in 1999, the 5.54 km venue is one of the longest and most demanding circuits on the MotoGP calendar. Featuring 15 corners, two lengthy straights, and a challenging combination of fast sweeping turns and heavy-braking zones, Sepang is widely regarded as one of the most complete tests for both rider and machine. Combined with Malaysia's intense heat and humidity, it consistently presents one of the toughest physical challenges of the season.

Izan Guevara arrives in Malaysia looking to immediately put the disappointment of Australia behind him. Although the Spaniard was denied the opportunity to race at Phillip Island, his recent form remains among the strongest in the Moto2 field. Sepang also holds special significance for Guevara, as it was the venue where he secured his first Moto2 podium, a third place in 2024. The combination of positive memories and strong recent performances gives both rider and team confidence as they prepare for another important weekend in the title fight and aim to decrease the 5.5 point deficit to the championship leader.

Alberto Ferrández continues to build momentum following his return from injury and now faces another valuable learning opportunity at Sepang. The rookie Spaniard will be tackling the Malaysian circuit for the first time, adding another new challenge to his debut Moto2 campaign. Known for its technical layout and physically demanding conditions, Sepang will provide an important test for Ferrández. The focus will remain on making steady progress throughout the weekend, gathering experience, and continuing the encouraging development shown since his return to racing.

Team Manager, BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2
"We arrive in Malaysia still feeling the disappointment of what happened in Australia, but we'll try to turn that frustration into speed on track. With Izan, we'll follow the same approach as in the previous races: work carefully on the set-up, make the right tyre choices, and give him everything he needs to be competitive in whatever conditions we face this weekend.

"For Alberto the challenge is a little different, as he'll be discovering Sepang for the first time on Friday morning. It's a very long, wide, and technical circuit, and certainly not an easy one to learn. We expect him to make as much progress as possible from session to session. We're not here simply to take part; we want to achieve results that we can be proud of."

"We arrive in Malaysia at a circuit I really like. It's where I scored my first Moto2 podium, so I have good memories here. Sepang is a long and very complete track, with a mix of fast corners and stop-and-go sections that test every aspect of the bike and rider.

"Given the level we're at right now, I think we can be very competitive. We're in a good moment, so we need to keep enjoying ourselves and continue working in the same way. It was a shame not to be able to race in Australia, but our confidence remains the same, and we'll keep giving everything this weekend."

"We've arrived in Malaysia, and it's another new track for me to learn. Sepang looks like a really nice circuit, and I'm looking forward to continuing the work we've been doing over the last few races. The goal is to keep improving, make progress throughout the weekend, and see what we can achieve."
